Why is Hydration So Important?
The water in our bodies is essential for life. Without water, we cannot survive as it is involved in every bodily function. Here at CORE57 we recommend that our clients drink half their bodyweight in ounces daily. That means, if you're 150 lbs., you should be taking in AT LEAST 75 ounces of water each day.
Drinking plenty of water everyday is necessary for a number of reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood.
If staying hydrated feels difficult for you, here are some tips that may help you move in the right direction:
Keep a bottle of water with you during the day.
If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try adding a slice of lemon or lime to your drink.
Drink water before, during, and after a workout.
When you’re feeling hungry, drink water. Thirst is often confused with hunger. True hunger will not be satisfied by drinking water. Drinking water may also contribute to a healthy weight-loss plan. Some research suggests that drinking water can help you feel full.
If you have trouble remembering to drink water, create a schedule and set an alarm.
Drink water when you visit a restaurant.
