The CORE57 Foundations: Your Pathway to Success

Before diving into the specifics of the 57 Strong Challenge, let’s revisit the 7 Foundations of Fitness that our challenge is built on. Our foundations are essential for a well-rounded approach to wellness, ensuring you achieve your goals sustainably and in a way tailored to your body.

  • Hydration: Staying hydrated is key to optimal performance and overall health because water is involved in every bodily function. It helps regulate body temperature, transport nutrients, and remove waste from the body.

  • Fuel: Your body is an amazing machine – give it the right fuel and it will take you to great places!

  • Movement: Think of movement as medicine with only positive side effects. Movement is more than exercise — it is your daily activity level.

  • Heart Rate Training: Wearing a heart rate monitor provides instant feedback on your effort level. Knowing this helps you train smarter and achieve the desired effects from each workout, which can get you to your goals faster.

  • Active Recovery: Recovery should be part of your daily routine. Rolling and stretching prepares your body, improving flexibility and range of motion, reducing injury risk, and boosting performance.

  • Life Balance: We understand that life can get hectic and that you put yourself and your health on the back burner. Our trainers are here to guide you, to help you find a better balance.

  • Community: Having a supportive community in your corner isn't just great for your emotional needs, but your physical ones too. When you walk through the doors of CORE57 for the first time, you're joining a family.

The 57 Strong Challenge is about combining these foundational elements into your daily routine for maximum impact.  Our challenge is designed to help you set achievable goals, track your progress, and provide accountability and support along the way.

57 Strong Challenge: Your Game Plan

Running from September 1st through October 26th, the 57 Strong Challenge is your chance to put the 7 Foundations of Fitness into practice. Grab a tracking sheet below or at the front desk and note your progress as you take on daily and weekly challenges.

Here's what you'll be focusing on:

  • Hydration: Drink 50% of your body weight in ounces of water daily.

  • Fuel:

    • Your diet must include three different colors of produce daily, with at least one being green.

    • Women should aim for 25 grams or more of protein at each main meal, while men should aim for 35 grams.

    • Limit alcohol to two drinks per week maximum.

  • Movement: Hit at least 7,000 steps each day.

  • Heart Rate Training:

    • Calculate Your Maximum Heart Rate (MHR): Subtract your age from 220. This gives you your maximum heart rate.

    • Determine Your Optimal Heart Rate Training Zones:

      • 90% of MHR: Multiply your maximum heart rate by 0.9.

      • 80% of MHR: Multiply your maximum heart rate by 0.8.

      • 70% of MHR: Multiply your maximum heart rate by 0.7.

      • 60% of MHR: Multiply your maximum heart rate by 0.6.

  • Active Recovery: Attend at least one Tier 1 (Mobility, Stability, & Active Recovery) class per week.

  • Life Balance: Dedicate time once a week to something for you — whether it's reading a book, engaging with your hobbies, or just spending time with your loved ones — and write about the experience.

  • Community: Attend one of CORE57’s community events during September or October.

Track your progress and submit your tracking sheets by 9:00 am on October 30th at the front desk in our Downtown location. We will host a celebration at The Standard on October 30th at 6:30 pm, where we’ll announce the winner of a gift basket filled with wellness goodies!
