Staff Spotlight: Tammy Thomson

Meet our staff member of the month for October, Tammy, one of our Fitness Trainers here at CORE57.

What CORE57 Foundation resonates with you and why?

Community — The Core Community is my favorite thing about Core. All of the members and staff are so supportive of each other. I have seen life long friendships formed at Core.

What is your favorite Spotify playlist?

This is one of my favorite playlists that I play at Core a lot: CORE Fun by Tammy

What is your favorite recipe?

At Rebecca's urging, I started eating a gluten free diet to help manage a flare up caused by Hashimoto's. Being gluten free has been life changing. This is one of my favorite recipes for a yummy treat: Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins

What is your favorite quote?

“Happiness is the journey, not the destination.”

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the members of Core. My favorite part of my job is watching people get healthy, strong, and more confident. People come to us at all different stages of life and different levels of fitness. I love being part of their journey and helping them achieve their goals.

What is a 2023 goal that you have set for yourself?

My word for this year is reacquaint. We have been busy launching the kids out into the world, and my interests and goals have gotten a little lost along the way. This year, I want to reacquaint myself with the things that I used to enjoy doing and my fitness routine that makes me feel healthy and strong.

What is a 2023 bucket list item you hope to do?

While it is not really a bucket list item, I want to get back into a good groove in life this year. A good routine that promotes my health and wellness.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I love spending time with my favorite 3 — my husband and children. I also love being outside. My favorite thing is mountain biking. Being outside makes me feel very peaceful.

Why did you pick fitness as a career?

I was an endurance athlete who became a group fitness instructor. At Kolleen's urging, I became a personal trainer. After I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and Hashimoto's, nutrition and movement became a pivotal part of my life. I want to help people, especially those with similar struggles. I want to help people realize how important fitness is and how it can have a positive effect on their lives.
